Doxy PEP for STI Prevention

WHAT YOU NE ED TO KNOW!

Doxycycline as post-exposure prophylaxis (aka Doxy PEP) is a single dose of antibiotic taken after condomless sex that protects against some STIs.

Doxy PEP might work well for you if

You are a cis-man, woman of trans experience, or nonbinary person with male sex at birth.

You have sex partners who were assigned male at birth.

You had an STI in the past year or you have condomless sex.

Doxy PEP does

Reduce the risk of getting chlamydia and syphilis. Take it ASAP after condomless sex, ideally within 24 hours, no later than 72 hours after.

Doxy PEP might

Help reduce the risk of Gonorrhea. Studies show it worked but not as well as it did for other STIs.

Doxy PEP does not

Protect against viruses like HIV, Herpes, mpox, or genital warts. It is not the same as HIV PrEP which is a different type of medication.

When taken as prescribed, Doxy PEP leads up to a

88% decrease in
Chlamydia

87% decrease in
Syphilis

55% decrease in
Gonorrhea

Other prevention options are great too! Condoms help prevent most STIs. PrEP or U=U help prevent HIV. Scan the QR code for more information and discuss with your healthcare provider.
